Lawrence A. Elias

ELIAS Lawrence A. Elias passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2013 at the age of 93. He was born in La Ceiba, Honduras on March 25, 1920 and was a resident of New Orleans and Kenner his entire life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lauro A. Elias, Sr. and Sofia R. Castro (Frank Castro). Also, preceded his death, was his beloved wife of 58 years, Lorraine K. Elias and his brother and sister-in- law, Ernesto A. Elias and Nina R. Elias. Lawrence is survived by his nieces and nephews, Pamela Elias Welsh (Jeffrey), Ernest Elias Jr. (Phyllis), Rhonda Elias, Vanessa Elias, Marcus Frank Elias (Cindy), Marissa Elias Guillory (Lloyd), and Richard Allen Elias (Kerri). In 1942 Mr. Elias was drafted into the U. S. Army and served 3 years in the Pacific Theater. On December 13, 1943, Mr. Elias, Technician Fourth Grade of the 373 Port Battalion received a Commendation for devotion to duty. Upon his discharge he was given his U.S. citizenship, and for this he was most proud. He attended Nichols High School, and was an electrician by trade and retired from the LSU Medical/Dental School maintenance department after becoming a supervisor. We will miss you dearly, and cherish those childhood memories of you playing Santa Claus on Christmas Eve while you handed out all the children's gifts. Sweet dreams dear uncle and we love you. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
