Not sure what to say?

Still miss you old pal. I think about you often. 2020

I met Larry just last year while working on a project togeather on the base. He was my design reviewer for the Engineering/MS4 compliance. He turned out to be alot more than a typical reviewer. He ended up becoming a friend that I shared many an off work conversation with and an outing on shem creek this summer. Within that short time I made a friend for life. I enjoyed the time we shared and the stories he shared from his early years in the military to his most recent stories regarding...

This was tough news to take. Beginning with the bond we formed over 30 years ago as a part of our Kings Point class of '85, 2nd Co., I'll always remember the fun times and long conversations with Larry. We gathered occasionally in those early years after graduation, but that became much less frequent after marriage and kids. But Larry was good about calling me out of the blue at least once every couple of years. Before saying ‘Hi, how are ya,' he would often start right into some comical...

To the family of Larry: I used to visit my father Chuck Doherty in Japan in the late 80's. Larry was often with us. We went out to fun restaurants for sushi and gyoza. Larry always seemed like a nice guy (I was 8 at the time). I send my condolences as my father just passed away in Iraq in Oct 2011. It's hard saying goodbye to a dad. May his spirit live on. The days are very hard in the beginning when your dad is gone.

Dear Brittany, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad passing away. I used to work in the same buidling with him. I just talked to him last month. I can't believe he's gone. May God bring you comfort and peace in your memories of your dad.

Years ago, I was in a group of friends that did everything together and Larry was right in the middle. We lost touch over the years except through Facebook, and I do regret not staying closer in touch. He was a funny guy, and we were all family to each other as none of us had family here. I will miss you Larry and remember all of our fun times, as there were many. Rest in Peace my friend.

When we arrived at the USMMA 30 years ago, they told us that our section mates would be the people we think of as our most important friends for the rest of our lives. I found that hard to believe having just been forced to leave my best friends back home in order to go through a hellish indoctrination with these guys. I was wrong. Before the first two weeks were over, Larry and the rest of Section 2B became my brothers for life. Like the rest of our brothers, I am very saddened by Larry's...

I was a classmate of Larry's at the US Merchant Marine Academy and although I didn't know Larry very well, I do know that he truely represented the motto that we learned to live by "Acta non Verba" (Deeds not Words). My sincerest sympathy for his family and friends.

Brittany,

When someone from KP passes away they say that they have "Crossed the Bar". What follows is the poem by Tennyson.

Larry - Fair winds and a following sea.

With love.

Crossing The Bar

Sunset and evening star?
And one clear call for me!?
And may there be no moaning of the bar,?
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,?
Too full...
