Lawrence E. "Larry" Hallett, Sr., 81, of Upper Mt. Bethel Twp., PA passed away Wednesday, February 28th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA.

Larry was born in East Bangor, PA on May 7, 1936, a son of the late Albert V. "Toby" and Marjorie Ellen (Lehr) Hallett.

He was the husband of Joan A. (Yerkes) Hallett. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this past October. Larry was a 1954 graduate of Belvidere High School. He was the owner & operator of Larry Hallett Contractors in Bangor, PA, since 1965. Larry and his wife Joan, also assisted their son Larry, Jr., in operating the Trolley Shops Restaurant in East Bangor. Larry was a supervisor in Upper Mount Bethel Twp., for 2 terms, while serving as supervisor he was a liaison to UMBT Police Force and started the D.A.R.E. program at Bangor High School. Larry loved skin diving in the Delaware River, playing baseball, boating, restoring & building classic cars, and going to car shows. He also loved snowmobile racing, where he was ranked #1 with the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Assoc. Larry also enjoyed art and was an avid painter.

He was a member of Richmond United Methodist Church in Bangor, PA. Larry also served as a Lay Speaker for various churches, over the years and loved his bible and teaching about it. Larry was also a member of the Trolley Shop Cruisers, the Highwinder Car Club, and the Monroe County Cruisers.

In addition to his wife, Joan, Larry is survived by a daughter, Candace Dayson, wife of Thomas, a son, Lawrence E. Hallett, Jr., husband of Linda, a sister, Nancy Cramer, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Robin Hallett.

Services are private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., "Village of Johnsonville", Bangor, PA. Online condolence may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com.

Larry was a devout republican with conservative values. He also was a very giving man and true to his word. We thank him for his generosity to the Slate Belt Republican Association. RIP
