Lawrence "Larry" M. Kaczka



Age 77, of Highland, formerly of East Chicago, Indiana,  passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 25, 2024. Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Nancy Kaczka (nee Payer); dear children, Jennifer (Marty) Freeman, Jeanne (René) Kaczka-Valliere, David Kaczka, Jeffrey Kaczka; precious grandchildren, Jarrett Freeman (fiance, Tressie Hopper), Chloe Freeman (fiance, Navin Pace), Veronica Valliere, Jamie Valliere, Trevina Valliere; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Proceeded by his parents Albert Kaczka and  Helen Kaczka (nee, Bilski).


 


Larry was a 1965 graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt. He was the owner and tax account for L&N Accounting for over 50 years. He played college baseball and was a wrestler at DePauw University.  He was a world traveler and an avid sports fan, especially the White Sox. Larry was also active in his community coaching youth sports including football, baseball and basketball, a wrestling official  and a Cub Scout leader.  He was his grandkids’ number one fan and was a loving grandfather known as “Umpa”.  Larry will be dearly missed and cherished by all who loved him.



Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. Schererville, IN. A Service Celebrating Larry's Life will be held at 6:30 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Services conclude at the funeral home.
