Lawrence E. Marra

Lawrence E. Marra, 95, of Clarksburg (formerly of Shinnston) passed away Monday, June 09, 2003 at the home of his daughter Mary Ann Mayes following an extended illness. He was born December 16, 1907 in Harrison County the son of the late Anthony Marra and Catherine Minardi Marra. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose Spino Marra in 1987. He is survived by two sons; Tony Marra and wife Shirley of Knoxville, TN, John Marra of Shinnston; two daughters; Katherine Oppedisano of Michigan, Mary Ann Mayes and husband Stephen of Clarksburg; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters; Rose Gandy of Monongah, Mary Bommarito of Michigan and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by three brothers; Sam, Joe and John Marra and one sister; Vicki Talerico. He was a coal miner was a member of the UMWA and St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Family and friends will be received at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 South Pike Street from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary service at 6:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Karl Wohinc as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
