Not sure what to say?

Fr. Mick headed the Gregorian Chant choir, and I was in his choir in 1963 - many fond memories. I last talked to him in 1977 about the church abandoning Gregorian Chant and the Tridentine Mass. I remembered him from time to time over the years. Today (9/5/2018), I found a Christmas card that he sent me in 1973 (45 years ago) and decided to look him up -- and found that I missed him by 20 months. Jim Skala, Hartselle, Alabama

Father Mick was a true "Father" and friend to hundreds and hundreds of Athenaeum seminarians, myself included (1966-1970).
We loved trying to do our best in choir, even when we could not sing or chant all that well. We all came away with a lifelong appreciation of Gregorian Chant.
- I still sing "Sacerdos et Pontifex" -- that he composed for the papal nuncio's visit in 1968 -- to my grandchildren.
For those of us who chose not to go on to ordination, he was the "go to guy" for...

I was a student for the Youngstown Diocese at St. Gregory''s from 1955 to 1961. Fr. Mick was the teacher who introduced me to Gregorian and classical music. I became one.of the cantors in the liturgy and this has continued to be a ministry now into my senior years. He was a wonderful counselor, saintly priest, and a principal loved by all the students. He was always approachable and a confidant for many..the archdiocese of.Cincinnati was blesses by his service to the Church these many...

I would like to extend my sympathy to Fr. Mick's family, friends and parishioners. Fr. Mick was on the faculty of St Gregory Seminary during my student days there. He fostered in me an appreciation of classical music, opera Gregorian chant and liturgy. He took care of me when I fracture my collar bone playing basketball. He and Fr Mac (Norbert McCarthy) took several of us to Pittsburgh to visit a fellow seminarian who had taken ill during the school year. I felt honored when he included...

I have never known a more kind and generous person. Fr Larry helped give my children their love of music. I will never forget hearing him play in the evening in the Rectory on that baby grand piano. Eternal rest my good friend.

God has called from us this special person, and though we mourn his death, we rejoice that he has passed into eternal life to live forever in God's kingdom. All of us knew and loved Father Larry in a special way, and all of us knew what a special person he was. For though age and infirmity have taken their earthly toll, nothing can diminish his true stature before God. For:
Though his voice fell silent, he spoke with strength and conviction.
Though his body became frail, his...
