RAHN, Lawrence G. - Of New Lothrop, age 70, made his transition on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 1:30 PM Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Frederick H. Taggart, O.S.A. officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society or the American Heart Association. Visitation 1PM-8PM Saturday and 1PM-8PM Sunday and 10AM Monday until the time of the service. Larry was born in Flint on August 17, 1938. He was a member of the Flint Elks B.P.O.E. 222, Burton Eagles and Grand Blanc Moose Lodge. Larry was a man who truly enjoyed all that he did whether it was a family vacation on Lake Ann, fishing in Canada with his brother and friends, hunting in Trenary in the U.P., golfing, bowling or working on his house. He did them all with great enthusiasm. Larry was a compassionate and kind man. He endured great tragedy with the loss of his wife, Sandra and his two sons, Mike and Jeff. When the three "Rahn men" were together, we knew it would be a long night with much reminiscing. Larry had a big heart and it was that heart that gave out at the end of his life and sadly a cure was not to be. He is at peace now and the "Rahn men" are together once more. To cherish the memories Larry leaves his brother, Harold of Flint; sister, Jean (George) Dollar of Birmingham; grandchildren, Kristina, Amanda and Jessica Rahn of Allen Park; fiancé Shannon Crystal; daughter-in-law, Pamela Rahn; step-grandchildren, Melissa and Sarah Kucharczyk; best friend, Harold Crystal and fiancée Karen VanNest; many wonderful nieces, nephews, uncles, relatives and dear friends. Preceding him in death were wife, Sandra "Sam"; sons, Jeffery and Michael; mother and father, Harold and Catherine Rahn. We wish to thank Dr. Mendoza, all of the doctors and nurses at Genesys C.I.C.U. who cared for Larry in his last days. Their kindness and compassion will not be forgotten. We also wish to thank all of those who gave their time and support, who went out of their way to take care of all the details that needed to be taken care of while Larry was ill. God bless all of You. God Speed His Soul to Heaven. Your condolences may be shared with the family at swartzfuneralhomeinc.com
