12 years ago, and still fresh in our memory. Ciao Larry.

Still missing you, a lot, 11 years later

You'll be forever in our hearts, Larry.

Still vividly in our memories, 9 years later.

When planning a trip to Rome years ago, I became interested in the historic remaining walls to the city, their exact location unclear in even scholarly guidebooks. I took it upon myself to contact Prof. Richardson, who encouraged me to stop by his office "any time". We had a fabulous chat. He subsequently sent me (typed) note cards of additional thoughts. Richardson, perhaps necessarily, is what we've lost in the academy. The professor perennially in his book-lined office, approachable,...

Larry was exemplary in many ways. A careful writer and an extraordinarily dedicated and perceptive teacher, he also knew how to turn into a ceremony the welcome arrival of a shipment of books from abroad and how, duetting with Emmy, to express polite dismay at some unfortunate utterance by a guest speaker. My fondness for Naples owes something to him. I will always treasure his memory.

Both he and Emmy were great influences on my career path...but even more, they were great inspirations as to the potential of an archaeological life.

He was an extraordinary individual. All those who had the good fortune of having him to be part of their lives were supremely enriched by his infinite kindness.
Larry, you will remain in our hearts forever.
