Three Generations of Root's. Larry, Jonathan and Jason
Larry came up to visit us a couple of years ago and we all met at a buffet. Had a good time. Nice looking guys, eh?

It took me a while to find the right words to write about Dad...and even now, I'm not quite sure how to properly honor him. I always admired and respected how open he was about expressing his love to those he cared about. No matter how long my travels took me away from home, whenever I'd come to visit he'd be ready with a big, ol' bear hug. He was kind and thoughtful and I couldn't ask for a better man to share Mom's life with. He will be dearly missed and I will continue my journey in...

The first impression I have of Larry was while I was dating his oldest son, Larry Jr., and we were still in high school. We had all gone shopping and Larry Jr. came across some clothes he wanted to buy. He went into the fitting room with them and then came out to get his dad's approval before buying them. He asked his dad, "What do you think?" and it was at that point that we realized that Larry Sr. hadn't eaten before our trip (anyone who knew Larry Sr. has an idea of what happened next!)...

It's been tough to say something I haven't already said without sounding like a broken record. But the man that we lost was a man of many experiences that he was happy to share; either through stories or by teaching. He was always blunt when it came to life; and never took anything for granted. It seemed to me that he lived as though time had slowed to a crawl and nothing could stop him. He was a survivor of many trials and a fighter to many causes. Even though we may have lost him...

To my good friend Larry. I appreciated the time we had and the time you gave our family. You mentored my children, and tried to challenge them to be better. Thank you so much. Wish I'd gone golfing more with you.

Dear pop,
I remember the good ole days when we would go golfing together, hangout and watch movies or tv. Go into town and eat lunch. I remember those days just like it was yesterday, I wish I could relive one of those moments. Just one more time, being able to see you just one more time would mean the world to me. It saddens me so much that I was gone for those two months when I was at bootcamp and I wasn't able to see you at all. And the last goodbye right before I left, I wish I could...

It's not easy letting go of the strongest Man I know. You were so much more than just my Dad, I felt like I had a Super Dad. How can one man know so much about so many things and I felt so lucky you were able to teach them to me. I don't know if I'll ever get used to not hearing your voice again but just knowing you are in God's hands now and no longer in any pain brings peace to my heart. I love you Dad and you will be forever missed.
