What a wonderful obituary for a man who led a fascinating life. I had the pleasure of being Larry's neighbor and was always impressed with his outgoing and gentlemanly nature. I'll remember seeing him walk for his morning coffee or afternoon lunch, paying greetings to anyone he would encounter along the way. Ryan and Shonodra were a true blessing that afforded him to stay at home in his final years. Godspeed Larry and condolences to all the Shafer clan. ~ Sean, Rachanee and the kids

I am so moved to read this wonderful obit. about Larry. I have a lot of good memories about when he and Jean were together. To his family and friends I can only offer my deepest sympathy for their loss.

I hope they like limericks in heaven because they now have an angel who knows them all. Oh, Larry. You will not be forgotten here. Thank you for all the unexpected and thoughtful gestures for so many years. Are you and Jean dancing? ~ Lola
