Read MoreI did not know Mr. Shivers, but Donnie was a boy I knew in Brentwood High School...when he worked at the Washington Avenue Deli. I did not know about Donnie's death, but fondly remember him as a gentleman and a fine person.
Though I never had the privilege to meet your family, you must be wonderful people to have had a family member like Donnie. My sincerest condolences to all of you.

Poppie was a great man and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to sit down with him and have a few beers. I'm sorry I couldn't come and say goodbye in person, but I wanted to let everyone know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. The world is better for Poppie having been in it...rest in peace, Pop.
