Lawrence John Staley

I was deeply saddened and shocked to learn of Larry's passing via an internet search.
We met in the late 60's when we both were Junior Right of Way Agents with the California Department of Transportation located in downtown Los Angeles. We bonded immediately as I found Larry to be a more than decent human being with a good sense of humor. Often times we would walk to Alvera Street to eat tacos during our lunchtime and share our hopes for the future. Larry was very happy at that time...

I had the pleasure of working with Larry in Caltrans District 7 in the early 1980's. We were contemporaries in the Right of Way Department, different sections. Our work could lead to contentious relationships, but Larry was one of the easiest and nicest guys to work with. He abounded with knowledge and most importantly common sense. I truely enjoyed working with him and considered him a friend. He will be missed. As much as I wish to attend the services, my illness prevents it.

When someone we love falls asleep in death, we treasure the fond memories we have of them. May those cherished memories of a life well lived and God's promise at John 6:40 bring you a measure of comfort. Please accept my heart felt sympathy.
