Not sure what to say?

I recall how sad all of us were in Binghamton when Lee Barta was killed in duty in 1995. How time does go by, but his spirit will always remain with us. Tomorrow, Thursday, 4/26/18, is the ribbon cutting ceremony of the newly expanded Lee Barta Community Center, which our City has dedicated to him. God bless you Officer Lee Barta. Angels will always be in spirit inside your Liberty Street Community Center in Binghamton, NY to watch over you and all of us.

Remembering the day that left a profound feeling of disbelief, fear for his family, and sadness. I had only known Lee and Mary a short time but felt a kinship and honor knowing this young man and his family were serving the community.

Lights, sirens, helicopters, police scanner...I remember thinking to myself before they even announced who it was "God please don't let it be..." Then came the horrifying news, the emptiness I felt, and the empathy for his wife, kids and unborn...

Rest in peace. It's difficult to believe it's been 18 years.
Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Thank you for your service. RIP.

Lee, went to school at U-E with my late Son Jim. He also worked at Friendley's with Jim and his soon to be wife, Sue. They thought the world of Lee, but then again who didn't? I only met him on a few occasions and he left a lasting impression as a Husband, Dad and a Cop. It just doesn't seem that it's been this long since we've lost him. RIP Officer!

Lee Barta - A hero gone too soon. Thank you for your sacrifice.
