You're missed so much by more people then you could have ever imagined, Lee. Boy did you set the bar high for us all! My small, behind the scenes work on a couple of plays sure made me feel like part of the "Lee Deal Team". Wish I'd talked further with you about going on stage when you asked. We miss those big ole hugs, too!

“Come Back to the Bennigan’s, Lee Deal, Lee Deal!” We NEED your insanity to help us survive Huntsville the-a-tah! Regular, normal people may be safe…but they’re so often boring, bland, and excruciatingly vanilla. Let’s do some more unbearable “mental casting” of shows in this burg (I will never forget our unbelievable dream/scream cast for “Annie”…as well as the lyrics). And let’s come up with a few new derisive play titles!
It is impossible to encapsulate what Robbie Shafer...

I was so saddened to learn of Lee's passing from Gil Hunter. I first met Lee in 1981 when we were in HCCA's "South Pacific". I can still see him doing the hula in a grass skirt. We then had a blast working together in HLT's "Light Up The Sky" working with Jim Zielinski and that wonderful cast. I can still remember like it was yesterday when Lee directed HCCA's last production of "Mame" and he cast me as Beauregard Jackson. Lee I will miss you but I know we will meet one day again!!

Oh Rocky!! That is the only greeting I have ever received from Lee Deal. Althought I played FrankNFurter...he would call me Rocky...in that sort of Tim Curry-esque voice. I truly wish that I had been afforded more time to really get to know Lee. My only show to ever be involved with Lee Deal and he spent most of the time on the couch. haha. But the fact that he was even in the building was amazing to me. He would come in and stay as long as he could...and then go to the couch for a while to...

My mom introduced me to Lee back in 1978 when I was 9 years old. As a child I always enjoyed being around him and got a kick out of his fabulous laugh, but it wasn’t until I was older that I could fully appreciate his great sense of humor and we could share laughs like adults do.
I have many fun memories of times spent with Lee both in and out of the theatre but my happiest memory of him was when he honored me with his gift of song on my wedding day. What a thrill it was to hear...

I miss the completely unique Lee. I enjoyed meeting Lee for the first time when he was on the casting committee for the first one-act I did for TRC. I loved working with him on stage and being in plays he directed. I spent many hours years ago with Lee having coffee talks, attending wedding rehearsals where he was invited to sing, and just being friends. I miss him telling me that I am "Anastasia!" (not to mention "Dotty Sue Weems" and "Dorothy Magnolia"). I miss hearing him sing "The Lord's...

I love you Lee. After 27 years of knowing you in this life that seems to say it all.

Lee welcomed me into one of my first non-musical plays, "Death of a Salesman" with Lee Deal Productions. I know no-one else quite like Lee, and as others have said he was and is truly a Huntsville icon. He was so easy to like and I really enjoyed him. One of my best memories of working with him on stage was when he played The Barber in Man of La Mancha. I can still hear it - "Oh, I am a little Barber and I go my merry way" - but of course there were so many more. Miss you Lee!
