Lee Farmer


George Lee Farmer, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN.  


Lee was born in Marion, VA to the late John Farmer and Ruth Medley Farmer and was preceded in death by his brother, James Farmer and his sister, Barbara Hagy. Lee worked at the Marion Police Department over 26 years as an animal control officer. He was an excellent carpenter and enjoyed woodworking. Lee was a former Marion Jaycee and received the Outstanding Jaycee of the Year award. He was former member of the Marion Fire Department and also a member of the Marion Church of God.  


Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Patty Farmer; children, Travis and Traci Poston, Stephanie Walters and husband Marty, Chris Farmer and wife Stephanie, Corey Farmer and wife Jenny; brother, Johnny Farmer and wife Joyce; grandchildren, Corbin Farmer, Kyra Farmer, Emma Walters, Miranda Walters, Matthew Walters, Jeremiah Walters, Braiden Gore, Karson Gore, Stephanie Poston; several nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM, on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion, VA with Pastor Arthur Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 PM prior to services. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Attoway Cemetery. The Marion Town Police will render Honors. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 AM for the funeral procession. So sorry to hear of Lee’s passing. He was a good man and I enjoyed working with him at the police department and Town of Marion. Great sense of humor and always whistling a tune.
