Lee Day Gillespie

This is my second entry. I am presently in New York City staying in apartment owned by Lee. I am constantly reminded of her generosity -- even when sick, she was so forthcoming in insisting I stay in this lovely place while working in New York and waking each morning here reminds me yet again of my pal.

Lee was indeed a special person of generous heart and spirit. I will always have vivid memories of her outstanding leadership surrounding the organizations she championed and her devotion to my alma mater, the New England Conservatory.

I have wonderful memories of Lee from my days on the music staff of BLO, and her vibrant, enthusiastic personality, and lively events at her home. She will surely be missed by many.

For fifteen years Lee has been an inspiration to me. Always there, always determined. Like bed rock. I will miss her desparately.

Lee was a generous spirit and that spirit will reamain with us always.

A good old friend from Opera Company of Boston and A.R.T.days. She was full of life and a sharp observer of the world. Her wry comments and her generous nature will be missed but not forgotten.

Lee Day Gillespie was a very special supporter of opera and a friend to all of us.
Her delightful wit and sense of humor made her a legend to all of us who were privileged to know her. We all share the sorrow of the family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lee several times through the Boston Lyric Opera chorus over the past 10 years. She was always a strong fixture at rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and performances. As a member of the ensemble, you always had a sense that she was looking out for you and the good of the company. Lee was amazing--a cool, fresh breeze on murky, foggy day. My most heartfelt condolences to all who knew and loved her.
