HERMANSON, LEE Of Grand Blanc, age 75, died Friday, November 22, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Thurman Jones officiating. Private burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2019 at the funeral home. Lee was born in Flint, Michigan on January 31, 1944, the son of Dr. Hartley and Martha (Whitten) Hermanson. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Radio Operator from 1961 to 1963. Following his time in the military, he worked as a professional saxophonist, traveling the country with various acts until 1967. Upon returning to Michigan, he completed his training to become a journeyman electrician. He continued to play saxophone professionally in Michigan for many years, including performances at the Flint and Detroit Jazz Festivals. He worked for General Motors as an electrician for over 52 years until his death. Lee was a member of the American Legion #413 in Grand Blanc, the Grand Blanc Huntsman Club, and a member of the Musician's Union #542 and UAW #659. He enjoyed Great Lakes boating, shooting sporting clays, and playing jazz saxophone. He loved spending time with his wife and their three dogs, Sonny, Skipper and Bella. Surviving are wife of 35 years, Susan; daughters, Tracy Bradshaw and Heather (Bill) Stover; son, William Hermanson; step-sons, David (Tammy) Collins, Myke Wolf and Matthew (Nancy) Collins; step-daughters, Lisa Collins and Rachel (Jason) Eagle; grandchildren, Carson, Jacob, Amber, Parker, Carter, MacKenzie, Amanda, Andrew, Evie, Kaylee, Ben, Sam and Luke; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Caylee; sisters and brother, Kristin (John) Hermanson Briegel, Karl (Cindy) Hermanson, Martha (Ed) Mahaney and Helen (Bill) Bach. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
