It´s a year later, and I can say that I still think of him every now, and then. I feel his presence at the neighborhood music school when I´m teaching. What amazes me is knowing that he studied with Paul Hindemith- this just blew my mind. I use one of Hindemith´s books to drill my students with ear training. Now whenever I use that book, I will think of Lee Howard. What a wonderful being he was.

My sincerest condolences. Mr Howard was one of the most important teachers I ever had. In elementary school, he "sealed the deal" for my love of music. I went on to study music more seriously and earned multiple degrees. His gentle approach, and kind encouragement were always in the back of my mind as I taught music.
