I am so grateful for the bond of friendship Lee and I had, despite our relationship being based on a professional association. I had the audacity to give a master woodworker a simple crude CUDGEL, but he had to admit he'd never had one, and muted his laughter only because he really was touched to receive a gift of someone else's handiwork, even if from a much more humble workbench. In return he shared a couple of old hand tools that I immediately treasured. Of course my real eternal reward...

Last time I saw Lee was as Artist in Residence at the Contemporary Craft Museum -- happy! I'm so sad he's gone and so glad I knew him.
