Lena Hines

It deeply saddens us that Lena (Lea) Hines, 81, passed away May 13, 2012, peacefully at Kings Grant House. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gomer Lee Hines; and 2 children, Bruce Daniel (wife Betty Sue) of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Faye Berry (husband Ron) of Virginia Beach, VA. Two children, Kaye Byrd and Gary Daniel, predeceased her. Six grandchildren also survived her, James Byrd, Jr. (wife Melinda) of Virginia Beach, VA, Dr. Lyndie Laxton (husband Chris) of Wake Forest, NC, Jason Byrd (fiancée Robyn) of Virginia Beach, VA, Kristian Wollett (husband Jacob) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Brandon Berry (girlfriend Kayla) of Fairfax, VA, and Gary Daniel Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; and nine great grandchildren. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and Animal Assistance League at their bingo games. She loved cooking, baking, spending time with her family, and playing bingo. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Her family and friends meant the world to her, especially Helen Gornto who loved her like a sister. A family and friends gathering will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home & Crematory, 1264 N. Great Neck Rd., Virginia Beach.
