PURDY, Ms. Lenora "Leigh"-age 66, of Mt. Morris, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, June 13, 2015 with 11:00 am family hour at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church 424 Kennelworth Ave. Flint, MI 48503. Rev. Dr. Major Stewart officiating. The final resting place for Ms. Purdy will be River Rest Cemetery, Flint, MI. Ms. Lenora "Lee" Purdy embraced by the love of her family and close friends, made her transition from this life on June 5, 2015. "Lee" was born September 6, 1948 in MS to Jessie Mae (Shelton) Wooldridge. She was a long time resident of Flint, graduating from Flint Community Schools. After high school in the early 70's while attending Mott Community College, Ms. Purdy began her modeling career with Edwards Modeling Co. "Lee" also known to many as "Leigh" loved fashion! She was a flashy yet classy lady that has been a true diva for years. In addition to modeling she was also a skilled seamstress. Sewing for family, friends and coworkers gave her an extra income toward her college tuition. She was a 1981 Mott Community College graduate earning a bachelor's degree.
Ms. Purdy was employed by the Flint Board of Education in the Administration Dept. where she specialized in data processing, building and repairing computers as well as a trainer for implementing new systems. She was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years where she wore many hats, serving as The Church Administrator as well as a trustee. Later, she became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Major A. Stewart where she faithfully served on the radio and media ministries up until the time of her passing. Sis. Purdy was also an assistant to Dr. Michael Vincent and worked closely with his staff assisting with his practice. Some of the other organizations she worked very closely to were The Flint Cavaliers, The True Vine Singers and Faith Fashion Boutique. She was a fashionista and had a special love for computer systems. Some of her other hobbies included: sewing, researching and exercising healthy living and eating habits. In her spare time she also enjoyed attending various church events, videography, making jewelry and ceramic painting with black figurines but most of all she loved spending time with her family especially with her great-grandchildren.
"Lee" was loved and known by many. There was never a dull moment when she present. She impacted everyone she came across with her genuine, loving spirit and smile that could brighten anyone's day. She will truly be missed!
Ms. Lenora "Lee" Purdy leaves to cherish her memory: loving daughter, Monica Grady; devoted granddaughter, Ayana Grady; caring grandson, Jamal Grady; precious great-grandchildren, Devin Gibson and Ava Vaughn; 4 brothers, Theador "Ted" Watson, Monroe "Thunder" Cleveland, Rasool Ar-Rahmaan and Floyd Purdy all of Flint; nieces, Kameshia, Tanzania, Halimah, Kendra, Sholonda, Felicia, Quantia, Jessie; nephews, Thomas "Bo" Williams, Sr., Thomas Williams, Jr., Justin, Barry; several other nieces and nephews; cousin, Anna Johnson; God-daughter, Denika Dalton; special friends, Ladonna Munerlyn, and Brenda Shivers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
"Lee" Purdy was preceded in death by: mother, Jessie Mae Wooldridge; step-father, Richard Wooldridge; sister, Minnie (Purdy) Boone; nephew, Idrees Ar-Rahmaan; uncle, Rev. Booker T. Anderson.
