Not sure what to say?

Lenore was a great mentor to me and the other young grads at Food Advisory Division, kindly sharing her enthusiasm and instilling confidence. A promoter of journalism and women's careers, she sponsored us as members in the Media Club of Ottawa. She never lost her love of writing and history, contributing stories about her beloved Merrickville and its roots. My husband and I had the good fortune to visit her at her lovely summer home by the rivier in Merrickville two years ago. I know that...

Lenore always had lots of wonderful ideas, like starting the farmer’s market in her barn. Her enthusiasm was infectious and she had the gift of making other people share her vision. Merrickville will miss this great lady.

Thanks for the tour of the barn last year Lenora - Sorry to have lost a great soul in Merrickville.

Sincere condolences to the family. Although a fellow professional home economist, I knew Lenore best through Veronica McCormick (my late Aunt) who also worked at Ag. Canada. Lenore was influential in convincing me to pursue a career in Home Economics on several enjoyable visits to the John A. Carling building for lunch and tours in the 60's.

We all had such fun working with Lenore at Agriculture Canada. We worked so hard, but were underappreciated by the Department. Lenore kept us soldiering on, entertained by her stories, rewarded with pots of African violets, and our writing tightly edited until it pinged. She was unique and fun.

I worked with Lenore at the Consumer Section - Department of Agriculture - a long long time ago...She was a home economist there at the time and I was secretary to the Chief of the Section.

With sympathy to all the family. I have fond memories of Lenore from our days at Agriculture Canada.

With fond memories and great admiration, John & sheena Cowan

We sat on my back steps the last week of July for at least an hour discussing Fair ideas and her beloved "Farmer's Market" - her last thoughts were that she would get a collection of flowers together to exhibit at the fair.
