Rigby Harting and Hagan Funeral Home - Media Obituary

Leo Coacher passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. He was born on October 8, 1960 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Leo and Anne Coacher (nee McClatchy). A graduate of Archbishop John Carroll High School and West Chester University, Leo was a lifelong resident of Havertown, Pennsylvania.

Leo is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Susie (nee Curcio), and daughter, Caitlin Rankin (Matthew); grandsons Leo and Ryan; his mother Anne Coacher; his siblings LeAnne Luterman (Keith), Raymond Coacher (Trish), Joan Dougherty (Beau), Laura Barr (Michael); and by many loving extended family members and dear friends. He is predeceased by his father Leo Coacher Sr.

Leo was a dedicated Philadelphia sports fan, and enjoyed every moment he shared with friends and family watching games. Leo loved fishing, golfing, and playing corn hole, but nothing so much as spending time with his family and friends.  Leo will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, December 20th from 9:00-10:15 AM at Sacred Heart Church (105 Wilson Avenue, Havertown, PA 19083), followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Internment will take place at Westminster Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Leo’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. https://www.stjude.org/

Not sure what to say?

Dear Sue and Family,
I was shocked to see that Leo passed away. Knowing him from St. Denis to Archbishop Carroll then meeting you and you and Leo becoming a couple. I would see you both at the Giant in Havertown. Always shopping together and looking so happy as usual. You both complimented each other. Leo was a great guy...always friendly and acknowledging. You and your family are in my prayers and keep the memories close to your heart!

Susie, I was so sorry to learn of Leo’s passing. I have been thinking back to all us in high school and the laughs and fun we had! It was also when you and Leo fell in love I hope all the beautiful memories of your life together bring you comfort now and for years to come. May God bless and watch over you and your entire family . With love, Sally

Ed and I have been LEO’s neighbor for years! It was a very kind person! When it snowed he would use his snow blower up and down the block! He will be surely missed by family and friends!

I have such fond memories of Benedict ave. And decorating the tree on mishief night, stick ball ,card games and fried macaroni! Loved the Coachers. My sincere condolences, keep his memories close.
