HACKETT, Mr. Leo Sr., of Richmond, departed this life December 21, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, who went to be with the Lord, Doris C. Hackett. He is survived by two sons, Leo Hackett Jr. (Ethel) and Robert A. Hackett; two daughters, Brenda Hayes (Ed) and Shirley Hackett; nine grandchildren, LaDonna, Eddie, Chris, Jason Sr., JeRon, Bernadette, Suzette, Robinette and Antoinette; 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth "Libbi" Cooper and Margie Peace, both of Roxbury, Mass.; one sister-in-law, Rhoda Hackett; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th Street, where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. Remains will lie in state Monday at 11 a.m. at Elohim Christian Center, 2696 Williamsburg Rd., where funeral services will be held at 12 noon. Dr. Leo Hackett Jr. officiating. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.

I am sorry I was unable to attend the funeral to see all of you, but you all are in my heart and my prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I am so glad I was able to share many laughs and happy times with Mr. Leo and you all as a family.

Hello Family,
I did not personally know Mr. Leo but through his daughter, Brenda, I could tell that he was a great man and a true warrior. Brenda spoke of him so plainly that I felt as if I knew did know him and I miss him too!. We do know that he is in better company than all of ours. May he rest in peace..at the feet of Jesus!
