Uncle Leo and Dad were as close as brothers could be when we were growing up. I really appreciated his help and kindness during Dad's illness and passing.I'm sure he and Dad are having a great time now. I know he would have loved this upcoming reunion.

I remember Uncle Leo when he lived with us in Costa Mesa after returning from the war. He had a sense of humour and enjoyed playing with us as children. He bought us small gifts and taught us to find the coins which Papa had purposfully left under the sofa cushions. He worked with my dad on a racecar they built for Bud and loved riding his motorcycle.
I will cherish the time we spent together recently in Studio City where he recounted stories of the Roach family when they first arrived...

What I remember most about Leo is the thoughtful & generous gift he gave us, when our daughter Tania was only 3 years old. We were giving our relatives copies of a candid snapshot we took of Tania. Apparently, it wasn't a particularly "artistic" photo, because when Leo saw it, he said: "Here (handing us a $100 bill!!!). Now, go have a PROFESSIONAL picture taken of your beautiful daughter!" $100 was a TON of money in those days. Bud & I had never SEEN such a large bill! So, thanks to Leo, an...

I have many fond memories of Uncle Leo growing up. He and my Dad getting Christmas gifts ready for us, motorcycle rides, and he was with our family when my Dad died. He was a special brother and uncle.

Uncle Leo, Uncle Leo ! Star performer in my very earliest memories; my first motorcycle ride, the "102" racecar you pounded together with Dad, and dark lessons that others in my generation would go to Vietnam to learn. But early days are fleeting, and our enduring link would be respect. My respect for your intelligent, instinctive, practical understanding of the physical world. Our love and prayers go out to Uncle Leo's family and friends, especially Deba and her family, as I know he will be missed. I loved knowing him as I was growing up, and am so proud of his military service and how he served our country. Uncle Leo will always be the hero in our hearts.

We are sending Deba and all Uncle Leo's family our love. I hope his early life stories are told thoughtfully to all our children, with pride, for the benefit of all people.
