El Cid was a special person--a good all-around athlete, stoic and unflappable. He anchored our bowling team at the 300 Bowl in Alma. We were cellar dwellers, but led the league in pitchers of beer consumed. Leo was a regular on our annual spring trips to the Kentucky Derby. He even dragged Joni along on one our trips to Louisville in the late 70s. They were a match made in heaven: where they are today.

Leo was a friend whom I attended Alma College with; we celebrated together much and I watched him play football for the College - a great man and much admired.
