As a freshman basketball player, I admired him and I tried to pattern myself as basketball player (1968-1972) after him, because Leo Utley was the best. The one thing that I will always remember about Leo Utley, he gave me the confidence to believe in myself win or lose.

I feel as though I've lost a brother too! Leo, Gone but not forgotten! Don't despair,he is with God now, the best place to be! My love & prayers are with the rest of you!

To Mrs. Annie Mae, Ralph and the Utley family: I, too, share your grief. Leo was always my friend. Faith and trust in God consoles us in our sorrow. He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. So we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Hebrews, 13:5,6. Remember God gives us courage to bear our loss.

Leo has been a wonderful friend. I will always remember his kindnesses to my children. They will miss him.He was in construction just like my uncle,Lucious B. Griffin.Now I have to say goodbye to him .I hope that someone will take the initiative and continue the legacy that takes tenacity to remain lucrative in such a competitive business.When I think of Leo, I think of hard work and love for people. Grant unto my friend eternal rest, O Lord.Amen.
