Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to Judge Harris´s family. Judge Harris changed my life. I was a troubled teen and headed down the wrong path. I appeared before him several times and the last time he called me up to lecture me one-on-one. After that I realized I wanted more out of life. I never forgot about his influence getting me started on the right path in life. While visiting family in Cleveland (2009ish??) I read an article about a young lady who had committed a crime and in the article it...

I will always remember his passion for young people, his wit and his sense of justice. He was a friend and a true servant of the people.

Truly was an amazing judge he always worked with Informing Our Children Inc. he helped us to help families.

I remember Judge Harris at Court Picnics. He was always down to earth. I once went to him to discuss a an issue a young man in my community had. He gave me some advice that not only helped me talk with the young man; it put the young man on the right track. I liked talking with him about great jazz. He was an honorable ,decent man, stern, yet fair. He will be missed

My Grandma Knew Him Along Time So Sorry For Your Loss I Sending Prayers

I am so thankful that I knew Judge Leodis Harris during my earlier years as a social worker. He always wanted to do the best for our young Black children. He was willing to work with community leaders to help prevent children from being placed into adult correction facilities, etc. He provided a positive image for me to emulate in life as a professional clinician. He will always be remembered by me and so many other social workers who appeared before him. During this anniversary...

Today I decided to look up the man that changed my life and write him a letter. I'm deeply saddened to learn that he has passed and that I couldn't thank him. For those who loved him I must pass my gratitude on to you for being part of what made him such a great and brave man to have the wisdom and intellect that changed so many lives for the better. Thank you all. And thank you Judge Harris.

To the Harris Family:
I found out only yesterday that Judge Harris has made his transition. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family. I worked in his first campaign so many years ago and was like many others excited and encouraged that he won! He wanted to make a difference in how urban youth were treated in the criminal justice system and his legacy will always be that he was a maverick and positively impacted many lives. He represented what a judge should be when making...

Judge Harris was a life long friend and gentleman dating back to Holton Ave when he ran for US Congress backing the help for non public school children.
RIP,
Jerry
