BROWN, LEON DANIEL (AGE 62) OF BRYANS ROAD, MARYLAND

Leon Daniel Brown, son of the late Dorothy Travers, was born on September 29, 1946. He departed this earthly life on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at his home in Bryans Road, MD.

After graduating from Bel Alaton High School, Leon got a job at the Naval Propellant Plant in Indian Head, MD. He continued his career in the federal service at the Government Printing Office, Washington, DC until his retirement.

Leon had two children, Sharon and Leon, II, whom he loved very much. He also had a love for music. For many years he was the drummer of the Midnighters Band. On many occasions, you could pass by his house and hear him beating on his drums, or the kitchen table, or tin cans or anything else that was in front of him, especially when a rhythm and blues song came on the radio.

He was a fan of science fiction and fact and loved star gazing. He often did so aboard ship. He was an avid cruiser and visited every major port of every major cruise line.

He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Roberson (Rome); son, Dr. Leon Brown, II (Kaoru); three grandchildren, Zaire Blair, Isaiah Blair, and Najaii Daneils; one great granddaughter, Gracelyn; brother, John Travers (Mary Florence); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, August 22nd, 11:00am until Memorial Services begin 11:30am, at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD.

What a beautiful Home Going Service for Leon. He enjoyed his life. Joyce, Family and Friends it was beautiful. My Deepest Sympathy, Peace and Love.

Lost one of my best friends.
Feeling sad, because I’m selfish and I want you here with me, but happy because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Leon, See you in the rapture where we will cruise together in the great sea beyond the sky.

Peace and Love to the family,

To the Family,

Leon was a classmate and friend at Bel Alton High School , He always kept us laughing with the humor he shared, He certainly had a talent for playing the drums for the "Midnighters" as teenagers we tried to be there as support for them, May God keep his warm memories with you, remember the good times you shared and always know God has welcomed him in for a rest he couldn't find on this Earthly home.

With Prayerful Sympathy and Peace to you ,

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
