Leon is survived by, and much missed by, his loving wife of 65 years, Nancy Carol Farren Johnson, whom he married June 2, 1956 in Brocton, NY.  Other survivors include nine children: Jeffery Johnson of New Brunswick, Canada; Jane (Timothy) Bell of New London, IA; Joy (Paul) Shewan of North Chili, NY; Mary (Dan) Kennedy of Bergen, NY; Steve Johnson of Mayville, Richard (Elizabeth Baaker) Johnson of Rexford, NY, Andy (Angie) Johnson of Sinclairville, NY; Michael Johnson of Mayville, Robin (Peter) Matthews of Panama City, FL; other special family members; daughter-in-law Debbie Frudd Johnson of Warsaw, NY; Lisa (John) Day and Matthew Johnson of Piney Flats, TN; twenty-six grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Sisson of Sinclairville and one brother, Ron (Pauline) Johnson of Brocton, NY.  Both Leon and Nancy provided foster care for numerous children over several decades.

Not sure what to say?

What a great orator and pray-er he was. He took his responsibility as the spiritual head of the family very seriously.

After graduation, whenever we crossed paths, he always took the time to ask how I was and what I was doing. I appreciated that.

So sorry to hear of Leon’s passing. Our deepest sympathy to Nancy and Family.

RIP until we all meet together at Jesus’s feet.

Emily and I are so sorry fot your loss.

It was 1963 when I first met Leon as my history teacher in Mayville. I learned to love history because of his teaching style. Through the years we would see each other around town. It was always good to see him and talk about our common interests. I will miss those chats. My condolences to Leon’s family.

So sorry to hear of Leon's passing. Thinking of his family and sending our heartfelt condolences to you all.

Johnson Family, I send my condolences on the loss of your husband and father. I always enjoyed his classes at MCS and conversations outside of class. He was a good man with a good heart. He has some great children that I also have good memories of- including basketball games, band practices, and even spending time together in London. Personal circumstances are likely to make me unable to come to calling hours on Friday night, but know that I am thinking of all of you. No doubt you have...
