Dad was a very hard worker, when he had the furniture store in Monterey he had to work 6 days a week, so there was really no time to spend with us kids. During the summer when I wasn't in Summer school, he would bring me down to the furniture store and put me to work on some of the toughest jobs like taking apart greasy ovens and cleaning them in the back, dusting all the furniture washing storefront windows. Was a pleasure to know and work with you at Hertz Leon. Your in a better place now but, always in our hearts.

Dad had such a great time with Leon on their last visit. He still talks about Leon still calling him "kid." They were true friends for life. When Leon would whistle beautifully, Dad would purposefully whistle out of tune until he got punched on the arm. When the pain subsided he would start all over again... John R. Meeker

Leon was one of my dad's (Dean Meeker's) dearest friends. He loved to tell Leon stories - of time in the furniture store and time spent together over the years. Leon was a big man with an even bigger heart - for God, his family and his friends.

Leon will be remembered fondly by all of The Meeker Family. There never will be another like him.
