BENNETT, Leona – age 87, died Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Bella Vita in Grand Blanc.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2020 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint, Father Anthony Smela officiating.
Interment of cremains at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Leona was born in Bay City, Michigan on August 8, 1933, the daughter of the late Victor and Sarah Nearing.
She graduated from All Saints High School in 1951.
On July 11, 1953 she married Harry (Jack) Bennett and they spent 63 wonderful years together until his death in 2016.
She then moved to Abbey Park, where she made many friends and lasting memories.
Leona was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, until its closing, and a lifelong member of the Rosary and Altar societies.
She was a devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Leona was a deeply religious person with a faithful devotion to the Blessed Mother and recited the rosary daily.
Leona is survived by her daughter, Mary (Dennis) Rariden;
grandchildren, Dean Bennett, Allison (Andrew) Bohlen and Sean Rariden;
four great-grandchildren, Jacob Birch, Addison Bennett, Abigail and Emma Bohlen;
sister, Phyllis Veselenak.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, and son, Dean Raymond Bennett.
The family would like to thank Kathy Felix and the staff at Abbey Park, Randy Legault and the staff of Bella Vita, and Mid-Michigan Hospice for their professional and compassionate services.

So sorry to hear of Leona's passing. I remember her as a very kind and caring lady. She always showed such kindness and I enjoyed my many conversations with her. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

Mary so sorry for the loss of your mom . It’s been many years since I seen her ,but I will remember her for her kindness, that smile that never left her face and making you feel so welcome in her home. Always loved to talk to her, she always gave great advice. She will be missed , but will always be in our hearts. There are some people that come in your life that you never forget ,well your mom was one of those people. RIP Leona
