KARCHER, Leona M. - Of Flint, age 90, died Friday February 9, 2007 at Alterra Wynwood of Grand Blanc. Funeral service will be held 11:30AM Monday, February 12, 2007 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2111 Flushing Road in Flint. Pastor Ray McGee officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to the Calvary United Methodist Church in Flint. Visitation 3-6PM Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Leona was born in Rose City, Michigan on January 10, 1917, and was the daughter of the late William and Alice Grawburg. She resided in Rose City, Oscoda and was a resident of the Flint area for the past 20 years. She married Donald Karcher on July 25, 1939. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1980. Mrs. Karcher was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Flint. Surviving are 2 daughters, Polly and husband Dennis Yorke, Katherine and husband James Bronkema; 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kristin), Amy Yorke, Jennifer (Dr. Douglas) Nuckols, Amanda Lee; 3 great-grandchildren, Michael Yorke, Delaney Nuckols, Rylee Nuckols; brother Jack and wife Lela Grawburg; several nieces and nephews. Dear Polly, Kathy, and Family:
Words are hard to find at a time like this, but Memories will never fade away!!! Aunt Leona was a "very special" lady, with a sweet heart, always giving a kind word. One of my fondest memories was when she and uncle Don took us to the amiamal park, and we got to take home a waxed gariaff. I will contine to keep those memories as well as others tucked in my heart. May You feel bessed having such a wonderful Mother and Friend. Wish I could have been there,...
