What fond memories as a child looking at the penny candy waiting and hoping anxiously for my mom or dad's approval to select a nickel or dime's worth of sweetness. Leona would say it's ok to come behind the counter and each piece was dropped into a little brown paper bag that she held open. Of course she always added an extra piece or two. I still vision her smiling face and feel her sweet kindness. She will always be my "sweet" angel. Peace be with you.

I grew up on Mulholland and visited the market often either on my bike or with my mom or dad. I remember Leona very well as she gathered our order and waited patiently as I picked out a treat. She was a very nice lady. I'm sorry for your loss.
