Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

DIAS, Leonard L.J., MD ? Of Flint, age 74, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint, Father Robert F. Copeland officiating.

Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Visitation 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.

A Vigil Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Dr. Dias will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the Mass.

Leonard was born in Bombay, India on July 6, 1941, the son of the late Joachim and Pansy Dias.

Dr. Dias graduated from Grant Medical College in Bombay, India and came to the Flint area in 1975, where he practiced until April, 2015.

During those 40 years, Dr. Dias was dedicated to his community in many ways, including his service as a reputable physician. His reputation was that of excellence and philanthropy.

Surviving are partner, Gail Gould;

four children, Christopher, Kimberly, Michael and Leonard;

brother, Clarence (Aisha).

I remember Leonard from the year 1945 with his mum holding his hand and taking him to school, I was in the same class ANZA in Byculla. Leonard always topped the class and proved his success in the years ahead by becoming a doctor.
