A call. A path. A destiny. On September 6, 1946, God placed a call in the life of Leonard Alan Glenn, born to Homer and Erma Glenn in Miami, Oklahoma. And, during his life, Leonard answered that call, the call to love God and love others. In fact, that is what Leonard did best --- love, love, love his family, and appreciate, enjoy, and live life to the fullest with his friends.
Early in life, Leonard attended NEO, and then graduated from Oklahoma State University (OSU) with a B.S. in Economics. During the Vietnam War, Leonard served in the Missouri Army Reserves.
The Controller for the W. K. Warren Foundation for thirty years, Leonard also earned an Accounting degree from the University of Tulsa. Making their home in Sapulpa, he and his wife Paula shared twenty-eight years of laughter, tears and love, and they successfully navigated the issues of raising a blended family with five children.
Leonard, Paula, and their children made many trips to ski in Colorado and to spend countless hours on Grand Lake. His Sunday night dinners for his children, and any other family members who happened to stop by, showed Leonard at his best--- quietly nurturing, fiercely proud, and strongly supportive of his children.
Leonard answered the call to serve his community on the Board for Community Care of Sapulpa and the Creek County Fair Board. Always a dapper dresser, Leonard may be the only person ever to help his son wash and fit a steer while wearing his dress shoes.
An avid (some might say rabid) OSU fan, Leonard refused to pay for his children to attend school at that other university down the highway from Stillwater. As an OSU season-ticket holder, he cheered the Cowboys to victory and suffered mightily with the Pokes when they didn?t prevail. With the Sunshine Boys at the Oaks Country Club, Leonard enjoyed many hours golfing, swapping stories, and making memories. He also shared his love of fishing with his grandkids as he took time to teach them how to bait a hook and throw a line. All of his grandkids loved to come and spend time at Mimi and Pa?s.
These grandkids demonstrate the most evident manifestation of Pa?s answer to God?s call on his life. They each felt especially loved and treasured. Pa will be missed by his thirteen grandchildren: Zach, Kaylin, Avery, Ashlyn, Ryan, Jaiden, Anna, Braden, Bailey, Bryant, Brenly, Connor, and Lyla.
This legacy of love listed above resulted from the answer that Leonard gave to the greatest call in his life. He served God and the Sapulpa Presbyterian Church where he was both an elder and a deacon.
Leonard passed from this life on October 22, 2015 at the age of 69 years, one month, and sixteen days. He was predeceased by his parents Homer and Erma Glenn and his faithful companion Hoby. Leonard is survived by his wife Paula; his brothers Stewart Glenn and his wife Sharon, and Brad Glenn; and his children Rob and Brenda Glenn, Livia and Matt Bennett, and Lawson and Andrea Glenn; his step-children Shane McGuire and Travis Hobbs and Kristin and Gary Paule; his thirteen grandchildren listed above; and a host of other relatives and friends.
