Leonard - and Bernice - as well as their company had a major impact upon our whole family. My father was an attorney and adviser for them (as was my uncle) before Alberto became a public company and later he was on the Board of Alberto. Our entire family treasured the relationship, and cherishes their memory.

It has been 52 years since, in 1965, as a student at Northwestern, I had the privilege of listening to Mr. Lavin tell the story of Alberto-Culver, as it existed at the time. It was a fascinating story. I still remember his description of the gentleman in the back room filling tubes of Alberto VO5 with a spatula, and how he leapfrogged the business by spending 40% or so of revenues on advertising. He truly was a remarkable individual. My deepest condolences to his family.

My dad's best friend his entire life. I loved Len's stories he shared with me of the 2 of them in their youth.
My sincere condolences to Carol, Karen and your entire family.
