To the Mitchell Family

I had the opportunity to sing under
Mr. Mitchell's direction when we travelled to the CME Convocations, in Knoxville, TN, Houston, TX and of course when the Men's Choir sang in Memphis. We were always excited about what God was going to do. We felt God's love and power when he directed and started to sing. After I moved to Atlanta and joined another church, I made the trip to sing with the choir and was truly blessed.

Know that he is praising in heaven.

May God continue to bless and keep you and your family. We are praying for your strength. Agape. Emma Wilson and Zelda W.Rice

Miss Jency,
May the Lord keep you in this time of loss. It's hard to believe that he's gone, but as we all know, he'll NEVER be forgotten. He helped raise me, he helped fashion my sense of humor, and he caused my father to laugh harder than I have yet to see any other human laugh. Without a doubt, Bro. Leonard was a presence. He lived a long and very productive Christian life. What more can we ask of God? That's the pinnacle of success! Congratulations, Bro. Leonard, on getting to...

It is hard to believe that Bro. Mitchell has made his transition. He was a wonderful mentor to many of us in Christian Music. His strong voice, wonderful leadership and integrity will remain with many of us for years to come. I am praying with and for you, family, knowing that Our Father will sustain you in the many days to come. I admire you Mrs. Jency for your love and devotion to Mr. Leonard. You are a wonderful role model to many of us women. God Bless You, Always!!!!!!!

Mitchell Family,

As a child, I was a member of Columbus Baptist Church where Mr. Mitchell was the Choir Director. I remember that Mr. Mitchell allowed any and everyone who wanted to sing,he allowed them to sing in the choir. Those who had voices sounding like scratching glass(my grandmother-Sis. Roberta Strong Thomas and my great aunt-Sis. Lucille Mclin) (SMILE!)Those who could really sing and knew the meaning of Joybells ringing in your heart(Sis. Nina J.Daughtery, Sis.Dorothy Cleaves, Sis.Lillie M. Ewell)...

My deep sympathy is extended to the family of Brother Leonard Mitchell. He was the sharpest man in Mount Olive Cathedral. We willo miss him a lot.
Sister Bettie D. Strong

Mr. Leonard Mitchell was one of the most wonderful persons to know and be inspired by. He leaves a legacy of christian principals, and an amazing voice that will long be remembered. My deepest sympathy is extended to his family and may I remind you that Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Although the song has ended, the melody lingers on.Pastor David Harrison Strong, Senior Pastor Historic Saint Paul A.M.E. Church, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
