Clymer Funeral Home Cremations - Palm Coast Obituary

Leonard Rosa went home to be with Lord on September 13, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family.

Leonard or “Lenny” as he was known by his friends was born August 3, 1943 to Harriet and Ambrosio Rosa in The Bronx, NY before moving upstate to Plattekill, NY where he spent the rest of his childhood and teenage years.  After spending a year at the University of Detroit, he transferred to SUNY Plattsburgh where he met his loving wife Karen Ann Clymer Rosa and pursued a degree in teaching science.   After graduation he became a secondary school science teacher and continued as a teacher for the next 39 years.

Lenny married his wife Karen on June 29, 1968 and they spent 52 years together.  They had three children and five grandchildren.  Beside his love for God, spending time around his family was his greatest joy.  You could always find him at every concert, game, recital, or event that his children and grandchildren participated in. Those that knew him could always tell that he was around by his laugh and were greeted by his warm smile.

He was always an active member of his community volunteering with the Guide Dog Foundation, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, helping to run the parish youth group, and along with his wife taught Baptism classes at their parish on Long Island.  Lenny loved science fiction and was always ready to provide a long winded explanation of any science topic and how it related to everyday life.

He is survived by his wife Karen Clymer Rosa; children: Donna Rosa Wagner, Christa Rosa Zielinski (Brian), and John Rosa; grandchildren: Caitlyn, Daniel, Kaleea, Jack, and Eva. He was preceded in death by his father Ambrosio Rosa, his mother Harriet Rosa, and his brother Fred Rosa.

A visitation will be held at Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations on Wednesday September 16, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in St. Augustine, FL on Thursday September 17, 2020 at 10:00 A.M.
