Leonard Dale Shewmaker, 65, of Rosendale, MO, passed away January 6, 2025, at home surrounded by his wife and children. Leonard was born on April 6, 1959, in St. Joseph to Leonard Nelson and Shirley Jean (Hodgin) Shewmaker.
He was a graduate of Lafayette High School. Prior to retirement he worked for Altec Industries as a welder and retired as a laser operator.
Leonard married Meloney Conner on May 16, 1987 in St. Joseph and she survives. Also surviving are daughter Miranda Virden (Mark); son Nic Shewmaker; grandchildren, Zak, Leann, Aubree, Trey, Hayes; and brother John Shewmaker (Kim); sister Sheryl Wysling; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; and brother Carl Shewmaker.
Leonard was a member of the Platte Purchase NWTF ( National Wild Turkey Federation). He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Platte Purchase NWTF.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, MO.
