Not sure what to say?

I've know Lennie from many years ago, since the Gross family(mine), and the Sogoloff family are related by marriage and share some of the same family members. Back in the early 1970's, I visited Lennie's On The Turnpike and Lennie's on the Village Green. I've never forgotten those times, and how Lennie came over and greeted us. Some memories never fade. Not Lennie, that's for sure.

I made my first visit to Lennie's on the Turnpike when I was 19. I ordered ginger ale and looked forward to listening to the first rate jazz artists Lennie hired. When I moved to Marblehead, I volunteered for the Marblehead Jazz group and wound up meeting Lennie at the UCC. As usual he would entertain all of us with his wit and story telling and livened up the place before the music began. Arlene Craig

I shall never forget the wonderful times on the turnpike and Lennie's hospitality. He was friend,a teacher and a great motivator. I will always remember the night he first introduced me to Buddy Rich. As a young jazz drummer it was a dream come true. Thank you Lennie, I love you.

Leanne, Mike, Nicole, Mathew and family-We are so sorry for your loss. Mr. Sogoloff was such a warm, loving father and grandfather...it was obvious that he lived for his family. He was so proud of you and interested in everything you did. We enjoyed meeting him in Vermont; and will keep your family in our prayers.

Lennie:
Thanks for all the great sounds over the years.
And... My bar tab is paid up...really!
Rest in peace.

I have such great memories of going to Lennie's on the Turnpike while in high school. Lennie loved having us young folks come for the jazz, (and the roast beef sandwiches!) and he took great care of us - nurturing our love of the music. What a lovely man - he was a true mensch. When I saw him again 10 or 15 years ago, he remembered me right away - amazing! He will be greatly missed.

I worked with Lennie at Sunglass Hut, I was probably 19-20. My parents were friends of his and they lived overseas. He took me under his caring wing. We enjoyed lunches together, and hours and hours of working together where I heard story after wonderful story. Lennie, thank you for being there and sharing. It was a pleasure to know you.

Many happy hours at Lenny's on the Turnpike, in the audience of Alan Dawson (my teacher at the time), Sonny Rollins, Phil Woods, Joe Bucci & Joe Riddick, and so many others. RIP, Lenny. And thank you!
