To the Spearman Family:

I had the great honor to work closely with Ambassador Spearman for nearly 10 years in Southern and Western Africa. His leadership and guidance helped Renewable Energy for African Development in efforts to bring energy and economic well-being to rural areas of Namibia, South Africa, Senegal and other countries. I feel very honored to consider him a dear friend. He was a truly great human being.

I had the great privilege to work with Dr. Spearman at the Department of Education three different occasions over 30 years - he was always intellectually challenging, unfailingly polite and solicitous, and a very astute manager: working with him sharpened skills that later serve me well during my career.
