Leonard Major White, Jr., affectionately known as “Scar,” entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by love, he peacefully transitioned at the age of 60.
Born on August 21, 1964, Leonard was a cherished gift to his parents, Leonard Major White, Sr. and Dorothy Mae White, who continue to honor his memory with love and pride. Leonard lived a life rooted in love, laughter, and meaningful connections. He was a lifelong resident of Caroline County, Virginia, and a man known for his big heart, quick wit, down-to-earth spirit, and genuine love for those around him.
As a young boy, Leonard faced immense challenges—he spent an entire year in a children’s hospital, where doctors once said he would never walk. But true to his strong spirit and determination, he defied the odds and proved them wrong, setting the tone for a life marked by perseverance and quiet strength.
Leonard built his career in car detailing, where he was respected for his skill, precision, and pride in his work. Whether working under the hood or polishing a finish, he brought dedication and craftsmanship to every task.
Outside of work, Leonard found joy in life’s simple treasures—quiet mornings spent fishing, the laughter shared over card games, the care he put into building and collecting model cars, the comfort of good music, and, most of all, the time spent surrounded by those he loved most: his family and friends. These weren’t just pastimes, they were reflections of his kind heart, creative mind, and love for connection.
He is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted partner of many years, Frances Scott, who stood by his side through life’s joys and challenges.
Above all, Leonard took the greatest pride in being a father. His love will forever touch the lives of his children. He leaves behind his eight beloved children, Shateema Davis (Reuben John Davis), Courtney Mason, Sharnelle Scott, Sherry Scott, Machai Scott, Malachi Scott, Shalise White, and Malik Scott, each of whom carries forward his legacy of strength, kindness, and unconditional love.
His legacy continues to grow through the next generations—his eight cherished grandchildren, Kevin Gianni Trent, Caru Amir Leonard Davis, Hannah Elizabeth Davis, Kaliyah Brown, Kamille Brown, Percy Brown, Jr., Paris Scott, and Kingston James Kelley, and his dearly loved great-grandchild, Sareya Trent, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
He leaves behind two loving sisters, Betty White and Denise White (Duke), who will forever cherish his memory. Leonard shared a deep and unbreakable bond with his sisters—a connection rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support that endured throughout their lives.
He also leaves to mourn a loving circle of aunts and uncles who held a special place in his life: Bernard Robinson (Gilda), Willie Robinson (Barbara), Alice Smith, Joyce Robinson, Nancy Ann Dawson, Delores Robinson, and Jackie Ray Robinson.
He was welcomed into eternal rest by cherished family members who passed before him, including grandparents, aunts, and uncles who shaped his life with love and guidance.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his beloved nieces, dear cousins, and devote friends—including his cousin and lifelong friend, Santana Robinson—all of whom were deeply touched by his love and presence.
Leonard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His friendship, laughter, and unwavering love for his family will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind. Though he may be gone from our sight, the impact of his life and the warmth of his spirit will be felt for generations to come.
A viewing will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and one hour before the funeral service. A funeral service will be held at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The interment will follow at the Brown Family Cemetery in Cedon, VA.
