Leong Toy Obituary

TOY Leong Yin Toy, born June 16, 1916 in Canton, China, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009. He is survived by his wife, May Linn Joe, children and their spouses: Huan Zhen Chen & her husband, Yue; the Late Gary Kai-won Chin & wife, Lina Chin; the Late Deborah Toy Collier; Cheryl Tape & her husband, Danny; Darryl Toy & his wife, Irene; Richard Toy & his wife, Irene; and Dr. Joann Toy, & her husband, Richard Macadaeg. Grandchildren: Dr. Lei Chen & her husband, Bin Yu; Zi Yang Chen & his wife, Shaohong Yao; Jing Jing Chen & her husband, Tao Yan; Scott Chin & his wife, Carmen; Steve Chin & his wife, Christina; Stanley Chin; Brent Collier & his wife, Nicole; Brittany Collier; Brea Collier; Matthew & Kimberly Tape; Brandon & Jennifer Toy; Kevin & Karen Duhe; and Joseph & Erin Macadaeg. Great-Grandchildren: Serene Ruixin Yu, Regan Congbo and Jeff Congzhe Chen, Coral(Cory) Ming-Yu Yan, Reagan Olivia Chen, Allison Jiayi Chin, and Evan & Bryan Collier. He immigrated from China to New Orleans in 1938 and proudly served in the U.S Army during World War II as a Private First Class Cook in the 267th Quartermaster Baking Company. He was the Former owner of Toy's Cleaners, Golden Dragon Restaurant, and Chinese Village Restaurants located in New Orleans and Metairie. Active in the Chinese community, Leong was a long standing member of the On Leong Chinese Merchants Association and was honored with the position of national chairman. Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Funeral Services and interment will follow at 1:00 PM. Donations may be made to Asian American Baptist Church, 2723 Kingsbrook Lane, Missouri City, TX 77459. Please visit and view the family guestbook at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.

Aunt May Linn,
So very sorry I was not able to be there for you.....I have many memories of you and Uncle Leong growing up when I visited for Thanksgiving with my Dad., Henry Joe....Uncle Leong made my first Lettuce wrap ( with dressing !!!!... )
