Mr. Callender was born on February 29, 1932 and passed away in August 2019. Mr. Leroy Nathaniel Callender, born February 29, 1932, is a graduate of City of College of the City University of New York (B.C.E., 1958) He attended Brooklyn Technical High School noted for its academic excellence, and graduated in 1950 first in his class in architectural design. He was also drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952, assigned to a special drafting school, and then sent to Korea where he designed small office buildings and other facilities. Honorably discharged, he completed college, joined another engineering firm and worked on the first nuclear power plant built in the East-the Consolidated Edison plant at Indian Point, N.Y.

Met Leroy at the Army drafting school at Ft. Belvoir in December of 1952. When we completed the course, Leroy was sent to Korea and I was transferred to and stationed at the Port of embarkation in Seattle Washington. When he returned from Korea his troop shipped arrived at the Port in Seattle. Learning Leroy was on the passenger list , as a friend of one on board, I was able to have him debark first. Im deeply saddened by the passing of LeRoy Callender or Roy as his friends and colleagues would call him. Roy was a great man with many facets to his character.

I first met Roy in the early 1990s thru a colleague of ours who recommended me to him for a position as a Construction Manager.
