Hi Girls...
I was out of town when I was told about Leroy; I felt so bad I wasn't there when you called Sandy, I still tear up at the thought. I had heard enough things between Sandy & Denise that I wanted to meet him but not the way I did, as I don't do first impressions well. I fell & banged up my glasses to the point where the lens wouldn't stay in. Having gotten them from BJ's, that's where I went (practically in your backyard) but couldn't find the lens so I remembered your phone #, &...

To the Eck Family,
You have my sypmathy. I thought Leroy would beat this. He seemed to be doing fine last summer. I, too, will miss this good, kind friend.
Take care of yourself.
Memories may they bring peace to your heart at this time of great sadness. With my caring thoughts.
Your sad neighbor,
Helen Shank

Sandy, Tammy and Denise,
My fondest & fun memories of Leroy: My niece Kim & I were walking down the street to the Cleveland Indian baseball game. I kept looking back & Kim ask me why I was doing so? I told her "I was looking for her Uncle Leroy". She laughed but wouldn't you know it, there he came down the street in the police cruiser. I waved and he picked us up, gave us an escort into the stadium. Got us good seats too! People were looking, they didn't know if we were criminals...

My Uncle Leroy lived in Milwaukee with my family for over two years. We first lived at 6th Street near the airport and train line. In 1958 moved to an apartment on 48th Street. Leroy was my "big brother" and was a positive influence on Doug and me. He rode my fathers racing bike daily to Palaski High School and worked in the evenings as a pin setter. But we did things brothers would do, we went to the movies on the bus, went to Braves games, played cards and just talked. We were so proud of...

Leroy was a good neighbor. I won't forget how I was surprised some year's ago to see his normally straight hair looking very curly. When I drive past his house now, I will miss seeing him in the yard and waving hello to him. I last saw and spoke with Leroy in September as he was taking Tammy's dog for a walk.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I think of Leroy always, when I look up to where he sat at the track and always waved and smiled. The wild grasses you gave us will always be a rememberance of him. If you need anything let us know.
