LeRoy Farris of Spearman passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Viewing will be at 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026 and family visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at the Church of Christ in Sunray, Texas at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Troy Albers and Danny Bilbrey officiating. Graveside service will be at the Hansford Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.
LeRoy Farris was born August 24, 1935, near Santa Anna, Texas to Willie Leroy (Bill) Farris and Addie Bingham Farris. LeRoy obeyed the gospel in July 1950 in Brownwood, Texas. LeRoy joined half-brother, Tim; followed by sister Annis; brother, Bill; sisters Amelia and Willie Sue; brother, Jerry; and sister, Yvonne; for a family of eight loving brothers and sisters.
The Farris family moved to Sunray, Texas in 1952, where the family commenced worshipping with the Church of Christ of Sunray. LeRoy graduated from Sunset Bible School of Preaching in Lubbock, Texas in February 1966. While in school, LeRoy preached and had two-week Bible School classes in British Columbia and Saskatchewan, Canada. After graduation, he preached for one year in Granger and one year in Opportunity, Washington. He preached in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho four years.
LeRoy moved his family, wife Darlene and children, Evette and Darl, to Boles Home in Quinlan, Texas to be house parents for two years. Following being house parents, he moved to Perryton, Texas where he worked for Dowell Oil Field Service as a truck driver. LeRoy moved to Spearman in 1976, where he was employed with 84th and 316th District Court as a Bailiff and Adult Probation Officer. He served strictly as an Adult Probation Officer from 1992 until retirement in 1997, working in Perryton, Spearman, and Borger, Texas. LeRoy married Donna in 1990, and preached in Stinnett, Texas at Main Street Church of Christ from 2013-2016.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Tim Farris; and by sisters, Annis Farris Hataway, Amelia Farris Dickens, Willie Sue Farris Ward, and Yvonne Farris Hataway.
LeRoy is survived by wife, Donna of the home; daughters, Terri Farris of Sandpoint, Idaho; and Evette Farris Layton and husband Bryant of Childress, Texas; son, Darl Farris and wife Sally of Grover, Missouri; step-daughter Jennifer Yarbrough Read and husband Scott of Amarillo, Texas; brothers, Bill Farris and wife Lucy of Twin City, Georgia; and Jerry Farris of Dumas, Texas; seven grandchildren, and seven greatgrandchildren.
Family suggests memorials be to the Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland, Spearman, TX.
