My deepest condolences to all of Mr. Mason's family. As a young musician starting out my career and in the early stages of conducting the Union Church Gospel Choir, he always had kind words of encouragement and advice for me. It was always appreciated and a blessing the times I got to speak with this music filled man, full of insight. May he rest in peace.

Leroy Mason was a good and wonderful friend of more than 50 years. He gave me some of my first gigs when I was a kid playing drums and I'll never forget the day he took me fishing up in Sept-les, Quebec. We were out in the boat for about 6 hours with just a light snack and never even got a nibble. Leroy hooked the worms for me because I didn't like touching them. We had a lot of fun. He always loved to talk about music and musicians. I was so happy these last couple of years to visit him...
