Pastor Leroy Thompson

Pastor Leroy Thompson was born December 20, 1935, in Faraday, West Virginia. He was the third of seven children born to the union of Lumus Thompson, Sr. and Elizabeth Ruth-Thompson.
He joined the U.S. Air Force at 16 years old and eventually retired from the military. During his lifetime he received his bachelor's in ministry. A man of faith, he went on to pastor for the next 50 years.
He moved to Denver in his 20s and met his wife Rita Thompson nee Jackson. Together they had two twin sons Michael and the late Tracey Thompson. "The best father that we could've had." He was a loving husband and a wonderful father but above all, he was a faithful Christian. Devoted to proliferating the message of Jesus, he kept his children and grandchildren in the church, and never used profane language.
Pastor Leroy was a people person who never met a stranger, he found joy in conversing with the public. An amazing singer, he toured with a gospel group and was an evangelist who loved to travel across the states, preaching and singing for the Lord.
Pastor Leroy was a virtuoso who could play any instrument, but favored the piano. He enjoyed traveling and fishing almost as much as he respected the pursuit of knowledge.

Pastor Leroy went home March 4, 2023. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Rita H. Thompson, his son Michael L. Thompson both of Denver, CO; four siblings; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There was a star shining so bright, there was a star shining for Jesus and it shined bright enough for everyone to see, oh whenever you need a friend to talk to talk to Jesus, whenever you need someone to share your heavy load, turn it to Jesus, he will never leave or forsake you, he will be right there, we are the light shining for Jesus, we ought to shine so bright for all the world to see we are the light shining for Jesus.
We loved him dearly and he will be missed.
