Not sure what to say?

What a special couple to anyone that knew them. I remember well golfing with Les while his eyesight was diminishing. He was comfortable with someone pointing him facing the hole we were putting to. He did better then than what I can do now with good eyesight!

Les was an amazing man- he made me feel like an old friend even though we had just met. I will miss running into him in the halls of Raybrook and the streets of Shady Shores. My sympathies to the family Betty Jo

Les and Evie were always so good to me after I moved to GR. They would have me over for supper. Les worked on my car a number of times and gave me a loaner car when I needed it. They were such loving and generous people, always showing the love of Jesus to everyone they could.

Les was the salt of the earth. He lived an incredible life and was a great witness to his Lord. My father (Richard) and Marie (Noe) and Wanda were great tablemates at HH. I will never forget Les. Thank you for a life well lived. /Andrew Lee

Many years ago I needed my brakes fixed on my car and did not have the money to pay for it. After finding no one to repair them, a friend referred me to Les. He didn't know me but said he would fix my brakes and I could pay him whenever I could. I repaid him and never forgot that act of kindness.

Evie, David, and Jill, Memories of Les are so plentiful it is hard to focus on just one event but.... I believe the most memorable event was when he found me struggling to install 12 foot long sheets of drywall on the ceiling of Uko and Grace's cabana on A lane in Shady Shores. Once he showed up the struggling ceased and the job got done. I know that Uko and he were the best of friends and we were also blessed by that friendship. Blessings to you all as you adjust to his not being in...

My mom (Kay Talsma) was Les and Evie's neighbor at Raybrook - I often ran into Les walking down the long hallway, smile on his face, no doubt going to help somebody out with something or other. I think my mom called on him to jump start her car once when the battery went dead - a good neighbor to all!

Les is my Grandfather. As no family is the exact same, I grew up not knowing him as much as I'd have liked to, but whenever I talked to him or saw him, I always felt seen and respected. I remember seeing him at their 50th anniversary. He was so happy to be around all his loved ones; kind of glad that this is my last memory of him. Rest In Peace, Grandpa. -Douglas Lam

My great memory from years gone by is being a student at Calvin and going to the Beimers some Sunday afternoons for a steak dinner and boy did Les know how to grill em ! we had as much as we could eat and it was unbelievable!! Great memories from gun lake as well he was such an excellent host!
